Report as inappropriate. This book was surprisingly enjoyable, light hearted, and stayed true to the essence of the characters.

Unlike its predecessor shopaholic in Hollywood , Becky was Becky in the most delightful and genuine way. While I disliked how the author had Becky act out in unbelievable and exaggerated antics, she did a full circle and Becky became the character I really enjoyed reading about in this book.

My only complaint is that Kinsella seems to tie up loose ends as an obvious afterthought, or changes the characters' personality without consisentency. Otherwise, I'm sad that the series have ended. Shopaholic was genuinely good fun. Rather disappointing fo this author. Quick and easy rea if you need something mindless for the beach.

I d'ont like t'is book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you enjoyed the other shopaholic books, you won't be disappointed. It's every bit as fun and entertaining! I'm always sad when I've reached the end. Already looking forward to the next one!

I'm a big fan of the Shopaholic series but this one took a whole different direction. It picks up right from "Shopaholic to the Stars" which kind of left things hanging but that one was a pretty good read.

Sophie could have wrapped that ending up and left this one alone. The plot was a bit far-fetched, even for Becky. Some if not most of it was just not necessary and the attempt at holding the mystery of what Becky's father was up to was very anti-climatic. Being a fan of this series and Sophie Kinsella, I feel like I know these characters and this book was very "uncharacteristic" of all of them.

That being said, I am currently readying "I've got your number" which is a good read and more of what we're used to. Hardcover Verified Purchase. I honestly couldn't believe this was actually written by Sophie Kinsella. Something was really off about the style and voice. The plot was so poorly fleshed out I'm wondering if it was written overnight. The jokes are bland and in your face and the light hearted, subtle humor is gone. I liked some parts of the book so the extra star Like Becky's growth as a character and mayyybe three jokes.

Anyway, Shopaholic is no longer an automatic buy for me, which sucks, because I LOVED the rest of the books minus the last one and bought every new book in the series without a second thought.

I agree with others who have said the book took a different turn from the others, but I liked the fact that the plot wasn't based on an argument between Becky and Luke this time. They were both in sync throughout most of the novel and I enjoyed the "big plan" at the end of the story.

I hope there's more to come and think there might be since Becky hints that she would like to have another baby with Luke. Plus there was an odd, little thread left hanging when a minor charactor mentioned how she was moving but couldn't take her dog.

I kept waiting for the dog to end up as a pet for Minnie but the whole thing was dropped. I guess because I've rescued quite a few dogs over the years and love dogs with a passion this would naturally stand out for me, but perhaps not even noticed by most readers. Aside from that, I can see a number of possibilities for yet another novel with Becky in the lead.

It would have been interesting to learn more about Elinor, too. In general I'm hooked on Kinsella's writing so shall move along to her stand-alone novels now. I hesitated buying this after reading the not so great reviews, but am glad that I did in the end.See Other Editions.
