Whether you're new to the 10th Planet system or looking to expand your knowledge, this book will take you ahead of the competition. Since unveiling his philosophy of no-gi jiu-jitsu in his bestselling martial arts book Mastering the Rubber Guard , Bravo has been at the head of the no-gi grappling movement.
In Advanced Rubber Guard , Bravo brings readers inside the evolution of the rubber guard. Covering every avenue, Bravo also updates his half guard, butterfly guard and x-guard systems with new and highly effective techniques. He shows how their institutions became locked-in to intensive power in the executive. The problem with these and other federated systems is that they often cannot decentralize even if it makes sense.
The analysis leads Kollman to suggest some surprising changes in institutional design for these four cases and for federated institutions everywhere.
With the same masterful skill he used to demystify scientific abstraction and quantum physics in his award-winning "Dancing with the Wu Li Masters," Gary Zukav takes us on a penetrating exploration of the new phase of evolution humanity has entered. What language did they speak?
But not long after their arrival Frank is diagnosed with polio. Maybe it's just that this suffers a little in comparison to that, or maybe it's just that the long wait for it has built up expectations, but I wasn't as impressed as I could have been by this. There were good things.
We have a fairly solid overview of the rubber guard, the addition of some bits like the double bagger and the prison guard, and some nice quarter guard stuff. Some of the issues that have come up with the rubber guard over the years have been addressed here, so if you go into this book looking for a solid closed guard game, you'll probably be okay.
A lot of the crazier introductory stuff is gone too, so you can just jump straight in and get on with it.
I do, however, have a few problems with the book that stop it being anything special for me. The first is that I'm not entirely sure what sort of book it wants to be.
It's a little chaotically ordered and incomplete to be a comprehensive, step by step introduction to the 10th Planet bottom game, so that I get the feeling you'd need a copy of Mastering Rubber Guard as well, rather than instead.
Yet in including many of the same bits, it doesn't feel like it's fully a sequel so much as a new, revised edition. Then there are some unfortunate consequences that come from the time it has taken to print. This wants to be a guide to the most up to date, cutting edge moves, yet the delay means that's not the feeling I get.
A lot of the 'new' stuff in there has been new for so long that it is quite well known now. There is no way that anyone sufficiently interested to buy the book won't know what the double bagger is.Auberry, United States Language: Advanced Rubber Guard: Nyanthar Myint rated it it was amazing Apr 08, Diego Solis rated it really liked it Jan 23, Eddie Bravo Page Count: I also think its great for those training in MMA as well.

I'll say again, there's nothing particularly wrong with the book, beyond a sense of running out of room and time that pervades it.
There is actually 3 photos just explaining the grip he uses. Thanks for telling us about the problem.
