Chapter 8 — D and F Block Elements The 8th chapter helps the students grasp the fundamentals of the D and F Block elements in a much simpler and effective way. In this chapter, students shall first learn about electronic configuration, the occurrence and general characteristics of transition elements with special emphasis on the trends in the properties of the first row 3d transition metals, and also the preparation and properties of some important compounds.

The next part will be followed by consideration of certain aspects like electronic configurations, chemical reactivity of the inner transition metals, and oxidation states.

Chapter 9 — Coordination Compounds The 9th chapter of the book deals with the study of coordination compounds. All the concepts and solutions have been explained in a really nice and easy manner for a quick understanding of the students. There is also a question and answer section that brings up some important concepts and discusses it for the ease of the students.

This is the study of important methods of preparation, physical and chemical properties and uses of organohalogen compounds.

In this chapter, students will be able to name haloalkanes and haloarenes according to the IUPAC system of nomenclature, describe the reactions involved in the preparation of haloalkanes and haloarenes, and understand the various reactions that they undergo. Students shall also be able to appreciate the applications of organo-metallic compounds, correlate the structures of haloalkanes and haloarenes with various types of reactions, highlight the environmental effects of polyhalogen compounds, and use stereochemistry as a tool for understanding the reaction mechanism.

Chapter 11 — Alcohol, Phenols, and Ethers After completing this chapter on alcohol phenols and ethers, students shall be able to write the names of alcohols, phenols, and ethers according to the IUPAC system of nomenclature. They shall also know the physical properties of ethers, phenols and alcohols, the reactions involved in the process of making alcohol from alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, the reaction for the preparation of ethers from alcohols, alkyl halides and sodium alkoxides, and the reactions involved in the preparation of phenols from benzene sulphonic acids, haloarenes, cumene and from diazonium salts.

The exercise will help students in practicing the structures and formulas from aldehydes ketones and carboxylic acids. They shall also be able to define the structures of the compounds containing functional groups of carboxyl and carbonyl groups, name the various factors that affect the acidity of carboxylic acids and their reactions, and list the physical properties and chemical reactions of aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids with their structures.

Chapter 13 — Amines This chapter on Amines teaches students what amines are and how they are obtained. The chapter also discusses the structure of Amines, the classification, and nomenclature preparation of Amines along with the Physical Properties and Chemical Reactions. The chapter also discusses diazonium salts, its method of preparation, its physical properties, chemical reactions, and its importance in the Synthesis of aromatic compounds.

The chapter also explains how primary and secondary amines are formed.

The chapter explains what biomolecules are and how they interact with each other and constitute the molecular logic of life processes. The structures and functions of some of these biomolecules are also discussed in the chapter. After completing the chapter, students will be able to explain the characteristics of some biomolecules like carbohydrates, hormones, proteins, and nucleic acids, describe the role of biomolecules in bio-system, classify carbohydrates, nucleic acids, proteins, and vitamins based on their structures, and explain the difference between DNA and RNA.

Chapter 15 — Polymers This chapter deals with the study of polymers.

This chapter helps students classify polymers based on their molecular forces, list the types of polymerization, explain the terms Monomer, Polymer, Polymerisation, classify polymers based on the source and based on the structure, The chapter also discusses everything about Biodegradable Polymers and the polymers of Commercial Importance. The question and answer segment discusses important questions related to the topics so that students can study them and clear their doubts.
